Privacy Policy

Plain-English version: your email stays in your Google account. We don't sell it, train AI on it, or keep copies on our servers.

Last updated June 16, 2026

ChatMail lets you read and manage your Gmail as a messaging-style interface. This policy explains exactly what we access, what we do and don't keep, and the control you have.

Who we are

ChatMail (“ChatMail,” “we,” “us”) provides a web app that displays your existing Gmail as conversations. We are the data controller for the limited information described below. To reach us, see Contact.

What we access

When you sign in with Google, you grant ChatMail permission to work with your Gmail on your behalf. We request only the access needed to provide the service:

  • Your messages and threads — to display your inbox as conversations.
  • Sending and basic actions — to let you reply, send, archive, label, and star, the same as you would in Gmail.
  • Your name, email address, and profile picture — to sign you in and show your account.

We do not request access to anything outside Gmail.

What we store

ChatMail is built to be a window into your inbox, not a copy of it. We do not store the content of your emails on our servers. Messages are fetched from Google and shown to you in your session; we don't keep copies, we don't log message content, and we never use your email to train artificial intelligence.

The only things we hold are what's required to keep you signed in: a secure session token and your basic account identifiers. These let ChatMail talk to Google for you without asking you to sign in on every page.

What we never do

  • We never see or store your Google password — sign-in is handled entirely by Google.
  • We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We never use your email content to train AI models.
  • We never read your mail except to display it to you in the app.

Google API limited use

ChatMail's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data solely to provide and improve the ChatMail experience, and not for serving ads or any unrelated purpose.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to keep your session secure. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your control

You're always in charge of ChatMail's access:

  • Revoke access anytime from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. ChatMail loses all access the moment you do.
  • Sign out to end your session and clear it from your device.

Children

ChatMail is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll revise the date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app.
